Plum Tomato?

I'm planning a Tomato, in a nice silvery plum color. The yarn is from my stash, a discontinued Classic Elite Spotlight. Trouble is, I don't have a contrasting color. I wary of using another brand, I've been burned before. I thought I could purl the herringbone pattern, for a more subtle effect.
I know this is a great yarn for this sweater, in fact, I'm frogging something I'm not crazy with, to use the yarn for a Plum Tomato.

I Think the purls are a really cool idea!!

Purling is a good idea. You could also try overdyeing some to a slightly darker purple.

Actually, someone else on this KAL did a Tomato without the contrast color-- meaning, a plain front-- and I thought it was really cute. I am considering making one like that for myself, due to my rather busty frame and not needing to draw further attention to it.

I like the idea of a contrast patter. How about a chequerboard, just for another thought?
