too much yarn, too little time...

I'm faced with a real dilemma: which project to start first?

Having decided that because I have a ton of Super10 (probably my favourite yarn) I would knit up the Bacardi...my only problem being which colours to pick...

... I then went into my first foray of on-line yarn shopping and acquired the following - Rowan all seasons cotton:

(intended for DH who kindly let me use his credit card to order...) and Rowan Calmer in blush

So - where to begin?

And, before I begin, I must finish the Samus-style cardigan I'm knitting... see my blog for that photo. I have loved working on it but just want to start one (or all) of the other fabulous projects...

And - let's not get started on the sea silk I have in the stash from Fleece Artist... intended for a pair of entrelac socks before I bought the No Sheep book!

SIGH.

Cheers - and happy knitting (am loving what I am seeing here, which does not help with the quest to acquire less yarn...)

PS: for those who are interested in the He and She Gansey and either have unlimited funds or can find a cheap on-line source (I ordered from cucumberpatch.co.uk) - the Rowan all seasons cotton for me knitted to precise gauge using 5mm needles instead of the 6mm suggested in the pattern for the He Gansey. And it feels GREAT!

my stab at Tomato - in progress

I must confess that I did not do the full geeky swatch (because I have used this yarn, Mission Falls 1824 Cotton, previously). Thought I would add the pattern to the sleeves as well as the body, and have subbed in a simple chequerboard for the herringbone - just because I could!)

I started this at 2:00 p.m. today, with fairly long hiatuses to make dinner and do some laundry. (It's now 7:30 pm) Amazed how quickly it is going! I'm liking the feel so far although it will turn out quite a bit stiffer than the original, I think.

Will post again once it's done. ;-)

Back to the Bacardi and the He Gansey once we get an A/C unit in here - hopefully this week!

have I gone mad...??

... because it is full summer here, 30million degrees with the humidex here, and I am bound and determined to finish the He Gansey for DH (although he won't wear it for another three months) rather than start on all of the other cute summer projects that I have for ME. What's going on? Is it guilt?

Anyway, with your indulgences I'll post a photo of it to speed me along on this mission... I do love the Rowan All-Seasons Cotton but I'm not thrilled with the greyness of it. I DID let him pick the colour... hmm... next time I won't be so selfless! ;-)

Looking forward to learning with everybody--

Hello--I am an enthusiastic (well, OK, obsessive) knitter and I am already a big fan of this book because it's going to be such a great addition to my knitting library. I use wool, angora, alpaca, etc. but have been specifically interested in learning the ins and outs of creating garments using plant fibers. (Yes, yes I know-- silk is an animal fiber!)
The designs are lovely-- besides the standouts others have already mentioned, I am definitely going to have to make myself the "hers" gansey and the silk jacket-- but even more than that, I love the fact that Amy has included a very interesting primer on plant fibers and a whole chapter on swatching.
I'm also excited to see that this KAL is going to be encouraging people to swatch and share their results with each other-- this is going to be a potential gold mine of shared knitting knowledge.
I've had significant trouble knitting with cotton in particular, so I hope to learn a lot from Amy's book.

Bacardi colour choices...

Hi all: I'm posting partly to motivate myself to stop knitting millions of tank tops (have been off work this week) and to make a start on the fabulous projects in this book! Here are the colour choices I've finally settled on for the Bacardi - having been living with various combos from my 20 colour Super 10 stash marinating for the past week:

Not as clever or as subtle as those picked by the designer, but I like them, and I guess that's what counts! ;-) At the very least, gotta love a pattern that calls for one skein only of several colours - it's great for us Super 10 hoarders out there!

I must confess that I have made a start on the He Gansey...

...but abandoned it in favour of two or three tank tops in more cheerful colours. No fault of the design (and I will get back to it after the Bacardi). I blame instead my poor long-suffering DH who insisted on grey. It's a nice shade of grey, but it is still... grey. SIGH. I will have to remember never to consult him again on colour choices (though it will go nicely with his eyes...)!

Please send me good sheepless (er... sheepish? Never!) vibes.

Cheers,
